Our local guides know the park well and are very knowledgeable about the wildlife found here.
We will be able to contemplate the highest concentration of elephants in all of Tanzania , more than 3000 elephants during the high season in the Tarangire park , in addition to seeing predators such as: lions, leopards, cheetahs and other species of animals such as wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, the impala, the eland, the dik-dik and the great kudú.
With a little luck we will be able to see other species such as dwarf mongooses, oryx and the giraffe gazelle that can rarely be seen living in the wild.
It is a place of great photographic interest, due to the mixture of lush vegetation, the river and the marshes, but also due to the great concentration of species of feathers that are so attractive, especially for bird lovers . A unique vegetation, a photographic park
Tarangire is one of the essential parks in the entire continent for a safari, being the sixth largest in Tanzania.
The Tarangire National Park is a protected area of more than 2,600 km² between the small Serengeti Plain to the southeast, and the lakes of the Great Rift Valley to the north and west. The northern part of Tarangire is dominated by the perennial Tarangire River, which flows through the ravines to the northwest of the park to empty into Lake Burungi.
In the south of the park it is worth highlighting a series of vast swamps that form during the period of long and short rains, but which dry up and transform into green plains during the dry season.
Near Arusha , the Tarangire National Park is famous for its huge colony of elephants , for its varied wild fauna , and for its flowery landscapes and vegetation, offering the opportunity to enjoy a mixture that differentiates it from the rest and makes it unique. where baobab trees are the protagonists.
Its name is due to the Tarangire River , which crosses the entire park and is an important source of water for the park and for the animals that live in the wild, which causes thousands of animals to migrate to Tarangire Park from Manyara during the dry season. as part of the ecosystem.
The ecosystem in this National Park is balanced by a pattern of animal migration, located inside and outside the park that we will see during our tour.
Visit Tarangire in the wet season and be conquered by the largest concentration of elephants.
From Sensation of Africa we offer you safaris in Tarangire all year round.
If we think of Tarangire as part of a much larger ecosystem, we will understand why the tours vary according to the seasons.
During the dry season, the animals congregate along the Tarangire River , where they drink during the hottest hours of the day.
From the end of November to the beginning of May, part of the wild fauna leaves the park to the northwest towards the Lake Manyara National Park; and others go to eat towards the south of the park. But we must bear in mind that not all animals migrate.
The best time to go on a safari in the Tarangire National Park from Arusha (Tanzania) is from the beginning of June to October, coinciding with the end of the dry season , as this is when you will have the opportunity to see a greater number of wild animals .
During this period the animals gather next to the Tarangire River, its swamps and its surroundings in the park, to obtain fresh water and green pastures, being able to see:
and many other wild species in total freedom. It will be a unique experience !
In addition, we will be able to observe many birds , since it is estimated that more than 450 species of birds live in the Tarangire National Park , among which the yellow-necked lovebirds and the shy starlings stand out.
If you want to do a safari in Tarangire, our recommendation is to spend two or three days here, to have enough time to visit the southern part, staying in shelters or camps where there are few visitors, which makes it especially quiet and unique for preserving a really wild air and allows you to feel closer to nature.
