Trip Overview

This 5-day Mikumi and Ruaha safari will take you through Mikumi National Park  Tanzania’s fourth-biggest national park. It’s additionally the most open from Dar es Salaam or by Air from Zanzibar. While Ruaha National Park  is not only the second largest park but rich in wildlife, Ruaha is one of the unbeaten path (least visited park)

Remember that this itinerary can be modified to your liking by making the variations you want by selecting the excursions or cultural activities that you like the most or extending your stay in Zanzibar and relaxing on the white sands Beaches (with the corresponding price variation depending on the changes).

Day to day Itinerary

Day 1. Dar es Salaam/Zanzibar – Mikumi

In the morning transfer from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi or fly in from Zanzibar. After arrival you will check in at your hotel and later on go on an evening game drive in the park in search for wildlife such as buffaloes, giraffes, lions etc. head back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2. Full Day at Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, you will embark on full day game drive inside Mikumi national park. Today we have every chance of spotting lions, leopards, and African wild dogs. Likely to be seen animals include zebras, hippos, hartebeest, wildebeest, impala, warthog, eland, crocodiles and antelope. The broad Mkata floodplain is an ideal place to spot lions as they lazily survey the vast herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and impala that roam the grasslands. Later on drive to our lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3. Mikumi National Park – Ruaha

This morning, after breakfast, enjoy an early game drive followed by visiting the snake park for seeing snakes of different types, crocodiles and tortoise kept at the park and taking pictures for good adventurous memory. And later on be transferred to Ruaha for overnight stay and dinner ready for your next adventure in Ruaha National Park.

Day 4. Full Day at Ruaha National Park

After breakfast enjoy a full day at Ruaha National Park  Tanzania’s second largest national park (after Nyerere NP) and offers excellent wildlife viewing. It is particularly good for spotting predators, including very large prides of lion and the endangered wild dog. Elephants and a variety of antelope species are another big draw to the park. It also has outstanding wilderness appeal, with limited exclusive, luxury camps available.

Day 5.  Ruaha National Park – Then depart 

After breakfast continue with a morning game drive at Ruaha National Park, this depends on your flight schedule. Then later your driver will either transfer your to Dar es Salaam or to the airstrip for your flight to Dar es Salaam/Zanzibar.

  • Pick up and drop off at the airport.
  • Accommodation in campsites and 3 meals a day during the safari.
