Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1. Arusha - Moshi

The first day begins with a pick-up at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you will be welcomed by our team and comfortably transferred to Arusha. After a rest at the hotel, you will enjoy a city tour to experience its vibrant local culture and markets. Following this, you can relax and have a peaceful lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we offer a variety of activities, such as a walk through a nearby national park or a visit to a coffee plantation. The day ends with a relaxing dinner and free time to rest before the next adventure.

Day 2. Trek Kilimanjaro Preparation

In the morning, you have the opportunity to enjoy optional activities in Arusha or Moshi, or relax in a comfortable accommodation with a pool after the long flight. This day is crucial for preparing all your mountain gear before the Kilimanjaro climb, carefully checking your backpacks and ensuring that nothing essential is missing. If you need any additional equipment, it can be found in Arusha or Moshi. Additionally, if you have any unnecessary luggage, a secure place will be provided to store it. In the late afternoon, the mountain guide will conduct a full briefing to prepare you for the ascent.

Day 3. Kilimanjaro Ascent

The transfer from the accommodation to the Machame Gate will take approximately 1 to 2 hours. Upon arrival, we will meet the team, including guides, leaders, and porters, who will assist with the luggage. You will only need to carry your daypack with the essentials and 3 liters of bottled water, which we will provide at that time.

The first day of trekking will begin with a hike through the dense mountain rainforest to reach Machame Camp (2970 m), located just above the forest zone, in an area of heath, offering views towards the summit. The distance to cover is approximately 11 km, which will take between 5 and 7 hours. Upon arrival, the trekking team will set up the tents and serve our first dinner on the mountain.

Day 4. Kilimanjaro Ascent

We will wake up early, prepare our gear, and get ready to leave the Machame camp (3802 meters). We will begin the ascent on a steep trail that will lead us to the arid moorlands, crossing through grasslands, rocks, and heather. We will continue our journey through an area of volcanic rocks, caves, and crystal-clear streams surrounded by exotic plants, until we reach the Shira Plateau. There, we will camp while enjoying a stunning view of Mount Meru to the east. The estimated walking time will be about 5-6 hours, covering a distance of approximately 5 kilometers. At the end of the day, we will have dinner and spend the night at the Shira camp.

Day 5. Kilimanjaro Ascent

We will start walking early in the morning. This day could be somewhat challenging due to the passage through the Shira Plateau, known as the "Garden of Senecios," famous for its rare plants, such as the giant Senecios and the impressive giant lobelia. We will continue ascending through vast platforms until we reach the lava tower in the volcanic plug (at 300 feet) and the rock formation known as the Shark's Tooth (at 4600 meters), where we will stop for lunch. Then, we will descend along a steep trail towards the Great Barranco Valley, reaching the Barranco Camp (3943 meters). We will walk for approximately 5-7 hours, covering a distance of about 11 kilometers. Although we will camp at a similar altitude to the starting point, the physical effort at high altitude and sleeping at a lower altitude are important factors for the acclimatization process. At the end of the day, we will have dinner and spend the night at the Barranco camp.

Day 6.Kilimanjaro Ascent

The fourth day of trekking will be a bit more challenging as we move through the Barranco Wall, which has a 126-meter rock face that requires basic mountain climbing skills to reach the top of the Karanga Valley. However, the walk itself does not require any special skills, and the use of trekking poles is helpful. It is essential to eat and drink as much as possible before retiring to your tent to rest and sleep. Most people lose their appetite on this day, but one of the most important things for a successful summit attempt is to eat and drink well, and our guides will always remind us of this. We will have an early dinner and sleep for a few hours before attempting the summit.

Day 7. Descent from Kilimanjaro

This morning, we will have a hot drink around 11:00 PM. The temperature is typically just below freezing at midnight, and it can drop to between -10°C and -22°C at the summit just before dawn.

It’s common for most people not to get any sleep during those few hours, but it's crucial to make sure you're well-dressed in thermal clothing and have all your gear ready for the 00:00 departure, including your headlamp or flashlight and extra water. The ascent will be steep and slow, taking between 6 and 8 hours to reach the crater rim at Stella Point (5,789 meters). The key is to take it one step at a time. Once at Stella, enjoying a cup of tea or hot chocolate is always a great option.

From Stella Point, we will climb a gentle slope for about an hour to reach the "Africa's Roof" sign at Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters). After a short break and some photos at the sign, we will begin our descent. The trail drops steeply to the Barafu camp, where we will rest before continuing on to Mweka camp (3,169 meters), located 11 kilometers away. This journey will take approximately 5 to 8 hours.

Day 8 Descent from Kilimanjaro

The last day of trekking on Kilimanjaro will be an easy descent of about 2-4 hours to the Mweka Gate, passing through the rainforest on a 9-kilometer route. Upon arrival at the gate, we will receive an official certificate if we successfully reached either Stella Point or Uhuru Peak. Afterward, we will bid farewell to our team members and head to the town of Moshi for lunch. If the accommodation is in Arusha, the transfer will take about 2 hours, leaving plenty of time for a long shower in the comfortable accommodation.

Day 9 Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, we will head to Tarangire National Park, known for housing the largest concentration of elephants in Africa. Upon entering through the main gate, we will begin our safari, where we can observe elephants, antelopes, lions, zebras, and many other animals, all set against the backdrop of the impressive baobab trees. We will have lunch in the picnic area, and in the evening, we will head to Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10 Lake Eyasi

This morning, we will visit the two native tribes of the Lake Eyasi area. This visit will allow us to learn about two tribes that have established a relationship of exchange between them. The Datoga craft metal pieces for arrows, which the Hadzabe use to hunt small antelopes and other animals for food, and in return, the Hadzabe offer some of the meat they obtain. They are a clear example of the interaction between wildlife and humans living in balance in the 21st century. With them, you will learn how to start a fire, and we may even join them on one of their hunts. After the visit, we will head to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 11 Serengeti National Park

On our second day of safari in Serengeti, we will explore the central and eastern areas of the park, known for their abundant wildlife, especially during migration. We will have the opportunity to spot lions, leopards, giraffes, and large herds of wildebeests and zebras. Additionally, we offer the option of a hot air balloon ride at sunrise to enjoy a unique panoramic view of the vast plains and its wildlife. After the flight, we will continue with our land safari, ending the day at the camp or lodge.

Day 13 Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, we will depart with a picnic lunch towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Once there, we will descend into the crater, known as the "Garden of Eden." We will enjoy a safari at the base of the crater, home to the rare black rhino and the Big Five. Afterward, we will have lunch in the picnic area and then continue the safari towards the main exit. Afterward, we will return to Karatu for dinner and spend the night.

Day 14 Karatu/Arusha

Upon leaving the accommodation in Karatu, we will return to Arusha, but we will make a stop along the way to visit the African Gallery, a unique place where the iconic Eboni tree is located. There, we can explore and appreciate local art while enjoying the nature surrounding this special point of interest. After this stop, we will continue our journey to Arusha, where you can choose to spend a few days relaxing on the paradise beaches of Zanzibar or take a flight back home.
