NATURAL RESERVE

The Serengeti National Park is the most important natural reserve on the African continent and probably the most famous national park, with more than 14,700 km² spread over endless plains dotted with acacias, savannas and lush forests where nature and wild fauna are protagonists, being able to contemplate an infinity of birds, animals and reptiles living in complete freedom.

The Natural Reserve of the Serengeti is one of the main sanctuaries of wildlife around the world, full of rivers and lakes that flow through the park and create a simply spectacular setting, such as r Ío Grumeti or Lake Victoria .

The park is home to the second largest land mammal migration in the world. This is one of the facts why it is considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa , and one of the Ten Natural Wonders of the World . The Serengeti rivers and the flat area will make you feel the spirit of Africa. We will take you to this unique historical and natural place in the world.

ANIMALS IN SERENGETI

The Serengeti National Park has the largest population of African lions, is estimated that more than 3,000 lions live in the area. This is mainly due to the large number of animals that serve as prey.

Another of the biggest attractions is the black rhinoceros , which is currently in extinction due to poaching, with the Serengeti being the conservation area for this and many other species. One of the few places where we can still see them during one of our safaris.

This National Park is the best place to see the East African cheetah . The success of their hunt is highly dependent on speed and the Serengeti plain allows them to show off their running skills – seeing the cheetah in action is spectacular!

The Serengeti is also home to a great diversity of gazelles and other animals, including:

The Serengeti is home to a remarkable variety of herbivores because each species, including those that are closely related, have a different diet. For example, wildebeest (which number in the millions and whose migrations are famous in this park) prefer to eat shorter grasses, while their migrating companions, zebras, prefer to consume taller grasses. The warthogs or warthogs eat the lowest grasses on the ground, the dik-dik eat the lower leaves of the trees, the impalas eat the leaves that are higher (sometimes you can see them on their hind legs to reach them) and giraffes with long legs and necks eat the tallest leaves.

An infinity of native birds coexist here such as the eagle owl, the white stork, the gray heron or the Egyptian goose among many others.

The Serengeti is part of the route of migration of birds from the African continent to Europe, species of birds that cross long distances each year in response to the seasons. Many of those birds move to Africa when it is winter in Europe. And some species adopt this strategy to migrate annually.
